World Environment Day 2020
The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) annually organizes events for the World Environment Day which encourages worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the earth and the environment. It is an event that is celebrated on the 5th of June every year with over 100 countries in participation.
The World Environment Day (WED) involves the engagement of governments, businesses, celebrities and citizens to focus their efforts on pressing environmental issues.
This year’s World Environment Day (WED) is focused on actions to combat the accelerating species loss and degradation of the natural world with the theme “Time for Nature” with a focus on its role in providing the essential infrastructure that supports life on Earth and human development. UNEP has announced Columbia as the host for this year’s event in partnership with Germany and the focus will be on biodiversity.
