NESREA MEETS FIRS, TO ADDRESS JOINT TAX BOARD

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) is set to address the Joint Tax Board at its next meeting. The stamp of approval was given by the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Muhammad Nami when he received the Director General of NESREA, Prof. Aliyu Jauro and his team who paid him a courtesy call in his office.

The Executive Chairman who is also the Chairman of the Joint Tax Board noted that collaboration between FIRS and NESREA in the areas of data sharing will help to block the leakages in revenue collection in the country, pointing out that tax is a major source of revenue generation for many countries across the world.

Earlier, the Director General of NESREA, Prof. Aliyu Jauro told his host that the Agency was in his office to seek collaboration in the implementation of two of its programmes, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Programme and the National Vehicular Emission Control Programme (NVECP).

Prof Jauro said the Agency was seeking ways to work with FIRS in the areas of registration and data sharing to boost the success of both programmes which are intended to generate revenue and provide green jobs for teeming unemployed youth in the country.
