Minister hails Okorocha over new NESREA Zonal/ State Office
The Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Usman Jibril, has hailed the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha for demonstrating his political will and commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development with the official commissioning ceremony of the NESREA new Zonal and State Office in Owerri, Imo State.
The Honorable Minister, who was visibly elated, gave this commendation on Monday, June 19, 2017 in Owerri during his brief remarks at the occasion witnessed by important dignitaries from the Federal, State and Local levels including stakeholders and other relevant agencies.
The new Field Office was donated by the Government of His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Citing the Governor’s other developmental strides which include excellent policies, programmes and projects to improve the wellbeing of the people, The Honorable Minister disclosed that it was part of his rescue mission for Imo State that has also produced a decent office infrastructure for NESREA adding that this will enhance effective environmental compliance and monitoring in the State.
The honorable Minister restated that environmental protection was key to sustainable development and appealed that all hands must be on deck to safeguard the health of our citizens as well as guarantee that the needs of our future generations are not compromised by the activities of today. “There is no better way to ensure environmental protection and sustainable development”, he charged, urging other State governments to endeavour to establish a NESREA presence in their States.”
