DG NESREA AT WASTE SUMMIT, SEEKS PUBLIC SUPPORT

The Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, Prof. Aliyu Jauro was a guest at the 3rd International Waste Summit taking place in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.

In his goodwill message at the summit, Prof. Jauro enjoined the public to support efforts by NESREA and the Waste Management Society of Nigeria, WAMASON to achieve effective waste management in Nigeria. He said the Agency was implementing Circular Economy through the Extended Producers’ Responsibility Programme, EPR in order to achieve zero waste regime in the country.

President of the WAMASON, Prof Oladele Osibanjo praised the effort of NESREA in waste management in Nigeria. He also lauded the effort of the Agency in initiating the EPR Programme.
The theme of the summit was Waste Management in an Emerging Economy- Challenges and Opportunities.
